Book Review: Wuthering Heights

Image
Somewhere in my search of good books I heard of Wuthering Heights, Emily Bronte's only novel which was published in year 1847. Considering the time when it was written, the story of the book is compelling and it explores the various facets of love, obsession and jealousy.  The story is about a boy who has hidden his feelings which lead to revenge over generation after generation. A classic story of poor boy challenged to be amongst the top layer of the society and later being hated by everyone due to evil intentions and conduct. The story is narrated by house-maid, Nelly Dean to the new tenant, Mr. Lockwood, a wealthy man visiting south of England and rented a place in Yorkshire, Thrushcross Grange. The landlord of Grange, Mr. Healthcliff stays in farmhouse, Wuthering Heights.  The story revolves around two family, Earnshaw and Linton. Mr. Earnshow owns a farmhouse called Withering Heights and Mr. Linton owns the house, Thrushcross Grange, where he and his wife stays wit

Don’t take it for GRANTED!

So many things in our life, we take it for granted till the time we realise how important it is. I came to this realisation when I took my health for granted and it hit me back at the wrong time. Result – I am missing the thing I love the most. So while sitting at home doing nothing and missing on big fun, I saw that so many of us do this. We take things for granted, we take people for granted, we take their emotions for granted and what not. In our journey called life, we have started talking it lightly and made it complicated. When we can’t solve these complications created by us, we think of ending it. I have heard of cases where people have taken their life for granted and ended it because of something or someone. A happy going guy suddenly jumps from his room on 11 th floor; a struggling actress ends her life by hanging herself. I try and try but fail to understand, how one can take their life for granted and decides to end it? Do they think of consequences, do they think

Book Review: And the Mountains Echoed

And the Mountains Echoed.. we can hear it loud and clear!!! After 2 successful books i had to read 3 rd book, And the Mountains Echoed by Afghan writer Khaled Hosseini. I was in love with ‘Kite Runner’ and also liked ‘Thousand Splendid Suns’. But somehow i am not in love with this book. No doubt i liked the book. It has amazing story and Mr. Hosseini has an art to keep a secret in a book which is revealed to the reader only when he/she keeps on reading. The description of the books says that it is a story of inseparable brother and sister (Abdullah and Pari) who travel to Kabul with their father, unknown to the fact and suspense that unfolds in Kabul (for that you have to read the book). The story is not just about brother and sister duo. The books talks about all the other characters and their background. Father, Mother and Uncle of Abdullah and Pari, Dr. Markos, Mr. And Mrs. Wahdati and step brother Iqbal are few to mention. This book is not like previous 2 books, here
