Book Review: And the Mountains Echoed

And the Mountains Echoed.. we can hear it loud and clear!!! After 2 successful books i had to read 3 rd book, And the Mountains Echoed by Afghan writer Khaled Hosseini. I was in love with ‘Kite Runner’ and also liked ‘Thousand Splendid Suns’. But somehow i am not in love with this book. No doubt i liked the book. It has amazing story and Mr. Hosseini has an art to keep a secret in a book which is revealed to the reader only when he/she keeps on reading. The description of the books says that it is a story of inseparable brother and sister (Abdullah and Pari) who travel to Kabul with their father, unknown to the fact and suspense that unfolds in Kabul (for that you have to read the book). The story is not just about brother and sister duo. The books talks about all the other characters and their background. Father, Mother and Uncle of Abdullah and Pari, Dr. Markos, Mr. And Mrs. Wahdati and step brother Iqbal are few to mention. This book is not like previous 2 books, here

Book Review: Thousand Splendid Suns

Thousand Splendid Suns.. Splendid Read!!! Once again I read the book of Khaled Hosseini, and again he has done a splendid job. Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini is emotional & touching book. It takes you to the time where Afghanistan as a country struggles to keep their religion intact. The book covers time from Russian invasion to Mujahideen’s battle to the emergency of Taliban. Mariam, girl to bitter mother & disloyal father, is forced to marry Rasheed, shoemaker in Kabul after her mother’s suicide. Rasheed is very brutal and violent in nature who takes out his anger on Mariam every time especially after Marian failed to give him a child. Laila on the other hand is born to modern & educated family. She is brought up in an environment where education to girl child is important. She also has lo

Book Review: Kite Runner

Kite Runner... A must run for this book One day while I was surfing through the channels, I came across a movie named Kite Runner which was being broadcasted on HBO. Though initially I just gave it a passing glance, it seemed impressive with the passage of time and so I continued to watch the entire movie. And trust me , the movie was amazing. Right from acting to script and direction, everything was awesome. Later on, while talking with my friend, I discovered that there was a book named Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini and the movie was an adaptation of it.   Finally I got an opportunityto read the book and it was more impressive than the movie. The story revolves around an Afghan family living in Kabul. The characters essentially consist of Amir and his father Baba, their Hazara servant Ali and his son Hassan and Baba’s old friend and business partner Rahim Khan. Hazara are the people who are treated as lower communities in Afghanistan. Amir and Hassan were good friends
