Story of Half Relationship - #HalfGirlfriend

Image
I am a big book geek and I have read all the books of Mr. Chetan Bhagat. I have even seen all the movies based on his books. When Blogadda shared that they are coming up with the contest for the Half Girlfriend movie , I was more than eager to write for it and share the story of one of my very good friend and his half relationship cum half girlfriend.  Due to privacy reasons, I have given a different name to the character.  My friend Aman Mehra, a tall, charming young man, fresh out of his MBA college and excited to join his first job. He never thought that he will get manu first time experiences in his new life. He joined an airline company in sales department. Before the job started, they had a week long training program. There were 4 training sessions running simultaneously and during one such session, they had a lunch break with another group of trainees. During a short lunch break, he saw someone - beautiful as ever, lively as anyone can be. For Aman, it was infatuatio

Book Review: Maze Runner Series

Image
There was once a movie name Maze Runner and I loved that movie. Later, after reading more about it, I came to know that it is based on the book. Still, my intention to read the book was not much. I waited for second movie Scorch Trial to release. I saw the movie, but got confused with the story, I did Wikipedia on the book and got all the more confused. Finally, I decided to take the matter in my hand and read the whole Maze Runner series by James Dashner. The series contains 3 main books - Maze Runner, Scorch Trial and Death Cure . There is 4th book which is prequel to Maze Runner - Kill Order. The book is any day much better than movie as it explains the entire concept in detail, emphasizing on character's quality, sharing their emotions and change in attitude as the entire plot develops in 3 books.  Warning: This review can be spoiler for you if you have not read the book.  Maze Runner The story in all three is narrated by the main character - Thomas . He is trans

Noise

Image
Noise, a simple word, means simple, but for a person going through depression and frustration, noise is that extra sound which keeps coming back in your ears, again, again and again. This noise is not a word of wisdom, neither a noise of support. This noise is the sound of cribbing, torture and anger.  And to stop it from happening, you have that feeling of breaking away. That urge to break away from things or just break away from all those who are holding us. That need to be away from this noise, away from people, away from stuff and away from constant nagging of people. Is this feeling associated with frustration? Or is it disappointment in life? Or is it fear which haunts you and you feel to be away from that? Or as simple as anger.  A feeling of destroying is indeed a dangerous feeling as you lose control over your mind and action takes over. These actions can hurt someone or yourself, still we don't care because at that moment you are not worried about the consequenc

Better Tomorrow !

The girls have some connection with their hair. Some grow them long, whereas others keep it short. As a child, I have always kept my hair short because I hated plait. Short hair means you can keep it open forever. Once I came to college, I started growing my hair, but till medium long as I felt that long hair is big maintenance. For the last 23 years, I craved for long hair. Wanted to see how I will look if I grow my hair. Being an experimental personality, I crave for change and never ever stick to one thing for a long time.  So I started growing my hair, cutting my hair and growing again till I reach a length beyond which my hair never grew. It wasn't even that long still for me that was the longest and I crave for more long one. It never happened. I had thin hair and after growing it became thinner. I had coloured my hair so the tips were of faded color. Though I had a decent length, I never had healthy hair. Sometime it looked good, sometimes it felt dried out. The m

Getting Rid of Writer's block

Image
So it was a while since I last wrote a blog.. And that's because I was going through what everyone calls it ' writer's block '. Since I had no topic in mind to write about, I thought why not I wrote about 'Writer's block'. I know it looks lame, but it is something which needs attention. And I wanted to write something to get rid of this block so why not this..!!! After writing this blog (but not posting it, I started writing more and now I want to share what I had experienced, so here it comes..) What is this so called writer's block? How this happens? Ways to get rid of??? Normally I do Google to find the answer, but this time I wanted my brain to work out the answers. Writer's block in simple word is not writing anything and whatever you write you feel wrong or unsure about it. This happens due to many reasons like preoccupied mind, a negative feeling about writing or topic, no passion for writing, too many things happening, busy life, thou

Take Leave or Leave It

Image
I always believe that in a year you should take atleast 1-2 big holidays and also few weekend trips. It gives you time to breath fresh air and get out of that monotonous life called 'work'. But organisations in India, especially if it's an Indian organisation, they will treat leave as Criminal offense. As if, we are the only one responsible for work and without us organisation - Can't work. I have worked in 4 - 5 organisation and everywhere I have faced the same problem. The senior and people at higher level feel that we are not dedicated towards our work because we take leave for ourselves. I mean, why being so judgmental? Leave, whether it's paid or unpaid, it's the right of every employee and everyone can decide when they want to take it or not. Why supervisor and their bosses think that we are breaking some rule by taking leave. If your boss is taking it, it's ok as he/she worked so hard but you.. Nahhhh! It can't be done! In abroad,

Book Review: Guy on the Sidewalk

Image
'Guy on the sidewalk', as the name suggests, this book is about a guy name 'Jaywardhan' aka Jay living his life in the USA and still feels like outsider decide to take the drastic step, which many NRI talk about it but never do, of shifting back to India. The title and short description of the book sounded very interesting and I was totally inclined to read 'Guy on the sidewalk by Bharath Krishna. I somewhat felt the story as recently I shifted my base from one city to another and how you feel disconnected with the city and crave to be where your heart's desire. The story starts with Jay spending his last 2 days in the USA and finally coming closer to his most daring step of shifting to India after spending 6 years in the country. All his NRI friends are saying their final farewell, but also contradicting on Jay's decision with their own opinion of their motherland - India. As Jay sits in his flight to India, he flashes back to all those 6 years in the

Job Insecurity

Image
I have been constantly hearing about the firing policy of most of the organisation. Many employees have been Asked To Leave (ATL) or fired by the organisation for various reasons. So many people are sitting unemployed and the number is just keeps on increasing. Also, those people who are still in the organisation, don't have any security about their job. Any day, organisation will walk to an employee and will inform him that he is no longer required by the organisation. One day you make good money and the next day, sitting at home unemployed. There is no stability, no security, no understanding, nothing! Employee are no longer treated as an asset to the organisation. They are more of a liability which they will get rid of anytime if it exceeds the limit. How a person can know when he his turn to get fired will come? How a person can judge the time he will spend in a particular organisation? In sales kind of profile, if you aren't bringing sales in first 2-3 months,

Gone beyond Gone…

Image
My latest book obsession is Maze Runner by J ames Dashner  and the way he has built the character of Newt who is just a teenager with quality of good leader but at the same time being everyone’s friend. This character has just brought a different perspective and made me think of him as my spirit animal that just guide me and help me with my normal daily life. Newt played by Thomas Brodie-Sangster in the Maze Runner movie The character has nothing great or super power. He was second in command boy with a lot of calmness, knowledge and understanding. He managed people nicely and never shown anger or command to get his work done. In the book, the character is infected with a disease called Flare, which eats your brain and make you go crazy. This crazy is not mental crazy. This crazy is when a person doesn’t know what he is doing, he becomes animal who can do anything, also eat human if he is hungry. Flare starts catching up to Newt and slowly he becomes a different person who s

Domino Effect!

Image
We have all played with domino and we know what happens when one domino fell.. All the other domino fell one after another. Such game also applies in life. You will realise that our life is also like domino. If one good or bad domino fell, other  one fell after another. Each thing in our life is interconnected and effect on one leads to effect on all. The reason why there are so many self-help book, concept, philosophies and studies is because they all talk about balancing your domino in such a way that fall of one doesn't lead to fall of another one. To explain the logic, let's take an example. Mr. X is working in corporate firm and living with wife and parents. One fine day, he got a real bad shouting from office due to some mistake in work. This shouting lead to frustration and anger in Mr. X this means one domino fell. He brings this at home and when his wife ask or tell him something, he gets angry at his wife. Another domino fell. Wife is taken back by such an

Voices in Our Life...!!!

Image
We all have that tiny voice in our head, which keeps interrupting our lives, especially when we are stuck somewhere. Many times this voice is created by people around us. The path we take, the choices we make are all because of the influence of others. There has never been a time when our decision was our own. Whether it is pursuing an education or work choice, these choices have always been the consequences of something happened in your life. Do we ever make or choose something of our own? There have been movies, books, video.. All talk about only one thing, Listen to your heart! But does it ever make noise? Does it ever make it possible for us to know? That is because there is never a heart which makes the decision. It has always been our head who does the work. Some dude in some ages has created a story about heart, saying the right and brain conflicting it, but the reality is it is all created by our own brain only. The heart is a creation of our own mind. Our mind has alway

Used to Being Poor

Image
When I was recently travelling in the outstation train, I had a different kind of experience. I observed the type of people travelling in the train and also their attitude. Many a time I see beggar and I wonder..  Some people enter into train without any ticket or tickets which are not confirmed, and take a seat which are available/empty. Basically, they hop from one seat to another till someone claims them. In night when you are sleeping, these people occupy small place next to your legs and sit there throughout the journey. As a generous human being you might allow them to sit - thinking they don't have any place to sit - but is it justified? We pay full amount for those seats and give half to someone who didn't pay single amount for those? We always believe in helping the unfortunate but are those people really the deserving one? Some of those people travel like this all the time whether it is an emergency or general travelling. For them it is a way of saving money and

What is Right or Wrong?

Image
What's right? What's wrong? How do you know that the wrong is right and right is wrong? Right and wrong might be explained in dictionary in simple terms but in real life, it takes us ages to know what is right and what is wrong. What you think is right but for me that can be wrong. ‘Nature & Nurture’ is what separate us in our thoughts. However, our definition of right & wrong is beyond this. It is formed, molded, developed and changed by everything small or big thing happening in our life. Tiniest part of our daily life affects our definition. Hence, what I think right today can also be wrong tomorrow.  Now question comes, if it's so uncertain and fluctuating, does it this definition matter to anybody? Or even to us? Simple answer is yes, it does! If we don't differentiate between rights or wrongs we will keep on doing what's in our mind. The necessity of creation of gods, idols, rules, regulations is so that we, human being, does not run around l

Perfect World

Image
It is said that we do or what we believe is either told or taught to us, but is it always true or perfect? We all are raised by different people, we all follow different philosophy, we all believe different things, then why we think that what we know is the perfect or right ? What we are or who we are is by nature and nurture, what other’s are is according to their value and belief. Then the question comes to mind, 'What is true or perfect way?' If we see an act, everyone will react to it in various ways. Some may like it; some may believe it and some will not. Our reactions will be different to others reaction at times. Even twins are not similar; when they have been give birth together by same person. Similarly how can we expect other people to be like us who are not even our twin, a complete stranger? Our view and our idea are not always right or wrong. What we believe or not, doesn’t mean others should also follow the same philosophy because we think its right. Wh

Depression - Serial Killer of Life

Image
Few months back, I heard the devastating news that one of my favorite comedian, Robin William died rather killed himself. He was found dead in his apartment. Yet another star who took his life and reason for such suicide attempt?.... Depression!   A successful person, world renowned comedian, humanitarian, established actor, a person who has best of the world, gets chance to work with best of industry people; a person who brought smile and laughter to millions of people, couldn't bring smile and happiness to his own. He publicly stated that he is fighting excessive drinking and drug abuse but noone knew that he was also fighting depression, the serial killer who works behind the curtain and takes life of anyone - successful or poor person.  It was indeed shocking for me to hear that how a person who appears to be so happy and fulfilled with his life is going through depression. What he felt was not enough in his life? Or what was bringing no satisfaction to his work? Even
