Welcome to the Puppet Show!

Image
A very famous dialogue in Indian movie name ‘Anand’ goes as “Hum sab to rangmanch ki kathputliyan hain jiski dor us upar wale ke haathon main hai.” English translation of the dialogue is “We all are stage’s puppets whose string is in that Man’s hands.” In the movie the actor was talking about life and death and god is the one who has the control. But over a period of time, I realized it is not just about life & death. We are puppets in each phase of our life. When we were kids, our parents and teachers had the control, in college friends and again teachers had control, in office our boss has control, after marriage our life partner has a control and it goes on and on till God pull the string and we are dead. I have read so many books and quotes where people say you are the leader or controller of your own life but how many times have we actually controlled our life? How many times jealousy has not over taken your emotions, how many times you have stopped crying over broken re

Book Review: Hunger Games Series

Image
Hunger Games.. Hungry for more! Hunger Games.. sounds familiar, isn't it!. That's because it is the biggest block buster in cinema halls now a days. I came across hunger games movie first as I am Hollywood movie addict. I never realize that it is based on book by Suzanne Collins named ‘The Hunger Games’. After watching the movie and also trailer of second installment of Hunger Games, my hunger for reading this book increased. So I caught hold of all 3 books and started reading. This book broke my record of reading books fastest. Last it was held by Harry Potter. I completed all 3 series and watched second installation of the movie before I write this blog. Beware people, this can be the spoiler for you! Hunger Games: The story is about a country called Panem, post destruction of North America. The main city is called ‘Capital’ ruled by President Snow and it is surrounded by 13 districts. Each district plays a role to provide various requirements to the capital.

Book Review: Connect the Dots

Image
Connect the Dots ..  Chance to connect to different stories What you do when you are jobless sitting at home, thinking, what next? How about starting a business? Or shall I look for interesting job? With these thoughts in mind, I read ‘Connect the Dots’ by Rashmi Bansal, the author who wrote famous book ‘Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish’. Though I haven’t read her earlier book, I was inquisitive to read this book. The book showcase 20 inspiring stories of people who are successful in their respective business without having any format training in business. The stories are divided into 3 sections, Jugaad, Junoon and Zubaan. These stories include businesses like Su-kam, Reva – Electric Car, Haathichaan paper, Tantra T-shirts, Shakti Sudha and so on. The author has interviewed the entrepreneurs and briefly mentioned their success story of the business and their struggle. Whether it is raid by income tax department or no support by franchisees, these people have shown the cour

Book Review: Six Suspects

Image
‘Six Suspects’ and murderer is Writer! First time in my life it happened that I left a book when I completed 90% reading it. I started reading ‘Six Suspect by Vikas Swarup’ recommended by my cousin as NEVER TO READ book. I thought let me give it try as how bad can it get. And believe me, I regret not listening to my cousin till date. This book talks about a murder at a party where police have six suspects, one of which is murderer. All six suspects have stories of their own, covered with controversies and drama. Be it tribal man who comes to city to retrieve an object or U.S citizen who comes to India to marry a pen friend. The stories are inspired by news channels and gossip column of daily newspaper. There is nothing new in this book. The Writer tried what Chetan Bhagat does with his book, make it sound 'Bollywood'ish. I am just praying that no director should think of making a movie based on this book. Maybe I am bit harsh with this book but there was nothing im

Don’t hold the dream tight, just chase it!

Image
When I was child I dreamt of being Airhostess.  When I was in college, I dreamt of being Fashion Designer. When I did my post graduation, I dreamt of being Brand Manager. Almost 4 year after my post graduation and I am jobless sitting at home thinking, ‘What was wrong with my dream that it never got fulfilled?’ Successful people who have made big in their respective stream say that ‘they always dreamt of this and now their dream is turned into reality’. Hardly anyone said that it is by chance that they end up with this or they thought of doing this and now their dream is true. So what is the deal? Was it their dream and they chased it to be true? Or was it is just by chance they tried and they got lucky? Very vague dream everyone have in life is to earn money, lot of it. Well! It is not a dream, it is a want. So if this is want then what is the dream? Dream is a cherished desire, a desire to be something you are not currently. So earning money is not dream. Dream can be to be

Book Review: And the Mountains Echoed

Image
And the Mountains Echoed.. we can hear it loud and clear!!! After 2 successful books i had to read 3 rd book, And the Mountains Echoed by Afghan writer Khaled Hosseini. I was in love with ‘Kite Runner’ and also liked ‘Thousand Splendid Suns’. But somehow i am not in love with this book. No doubt i liked the book. It has amazing story and Mr. Hosseini has an art to keep a secret in a book which is revealed to the reader only when he/she keeps on reading. The description of the books says that it is a story of inseparable brother and sister (Abdullah and Pari) who travel to Kabul with their father, unknown to the fact and suspense that unfolds in Kabul (for that you have to read the book). The story is not just about brother and sister duo. The books talks about all the other characters and their background. Father, Mother and Uncle of Abdullah and Pari, Dr. Markos, Mr. And Mrs. Wahdati and step brother Iqbal are few to mention. This book is not like previous 2 books, here

Think Creative

Image
Imagination has no boundaries. So whether it is a drawing simple sketch to creating a master piece. It all starts with a small spark.  Small spark can be anything like doing some scribble on piece of paper. Normally we end up doing some doodling in a meeting or in boring lecture or brain storming session or just while watching a sad movies.  Creativity lies in exploring. Just like travelling, creativity is looking at things differently.  Open an eye and see the world differently.

Live and Let Others Live

Sometime in life you meet people who don't live their own life and don't let you live yours. Constant nagging, constant cribbing and constant mental torture will obviously physic anyone. We live our life thinking others can't affect us. We are in the illusion that our life is controlled by us. The truth is that our life is never in our hand. We try to be happy, we try to reach the top and their are these factor, people who will pull you down again and again. These people can be your friends, your cousins or your parents. They will purposely or unconsciously will lead to your failure. You try to concentrate and focus on what you want but you keep on falling down. Your confidence and self respect is low. You doubt your capabilities. You perform bad because of the influence of these people. Then I thought, why? Why these people don't want me to see happy or achieve something? Why they want me to fail? Is it because they expect others things from you? Or they want you

Hello Mr. J

Image
Mr. J very popular amongst all generation. You must be wondering who is or what is Mr. J.. It's none other than Jealousy. Why he is having a better job than me, why is she married to rich guy, why they go on holiday and we don't.. There are so many sentences like this running in our mind everyday. These thoughts cross our mind all the time. What we do when Mr. J runs in our mind, we follow him around. Mr. J is so impressive that we fall in his trap everytime. He come, he concurred and he came again. Mr. J comes especially when we want something and we don't get or when we lose or fail, or when we chase and realise we are no longer in the race. Jealousy is normal human tendency. It is just a emotion like happy or sad. Many people take jealousy as stepping stone, more like motivation to do better than someone. If he can buy sedan than I will buy SUV. If he has 2BHK flat than I will buy 3BHK. This kind of motivation is good but people forget in jealousy that you cant sprea

Yet Another Step..

Image
Life is ever changing. Each day we think of taking new step ahead or we take back the step we took before. Each moment of life, we analysed, we get happy or we get sad, we relish or we regret. Every moment of our life is a step, whether it's taking up new job, joining a college, getting married or buying a house.. all this is a step taken ahead in your life. At the same time, there are few steps which we wish to take back. Divorce, Leaving a job, staying in a particular city and so on. It is said that life moves on, if one day is bad doesn't mean whole life is bad.. but when you are in dark all you see is darkness. If a person losses his/her job, they wont see this as an opportunity to do something else. If a person gets another job, he will think that it is a new step but that job might worth taking. Step towards happiness are memorable step in our life. All those happy moments.. falling in love, finding a friends, time spent with family.. all these steps brings a new s

So called Adjustment

Image
It is said that Indians are born to adjust. Adjust with the infrastructure, adjust with polluted air, adjust with crowded cities, adjust with corrupted policies and what not. But does this mean we adjust to each and everything? Does this mean we forget who or what we are and just do what others what? From childhood I hated the fact that I took birth as a girl. Since I was kid I saw girls sacrificing their career, life, hobbies all because of others. Being the girl they were given the burden of the family. Women’s were treated as if the whole world is not their shoulder and they don’t have time for themselves as they were too caught with others. I always wanted to be boy not just because they didn’t had the household responsibility on their shoulder but for the only fact that they had freedom to do what they wanted from their life. As I grew up I kept on wondering why such difference is. Why boy can do what they want and girls have to seek permission? I remember I used to fight wit

Religion Hoax!

Image
Who are we all? Indian, Canadian, Hindu, Christian, Jew or just a human being? There are different countries creating its own religion and when you are in country like India, each state creates its own religion. There is so much and there are so many religion that somehow I feel that people forgot what religion is about. Being Hindu, I had few beliefs but as I grown, as I started reading or watch TV, I realise that religion is just a hoax created by human being to discriminate theirselves with another. To believe is also at some point is acceptable in doing what you want to do, but not when it tells you to blindly follow it or force others to do so. Religion doesnt tell you what is right or what is wrong. Also when you do something it's never right or wrong, it is just consequences. A thief takes 10 Rs from you might be wrong from your angle but it can be desperate act by a thief in the need of emergency. You charging customer extra for some more profit is also technically wrong

Book Review: To Kill Mocking-Bird

Image
Kill myth with ‘To kill Mocking-Bird ’ I heard a lot about book ‘To Kill Mocking-Bird’ by Harper Lee especially in American TV shows where school going kids had assignment on this book and I wonder what this book is all about. Next day I go to book store and buy this book. As I started reading, I found it very normal. Story is about 2 siblings, Scout and Jem who lives in Southern town of States with their father Atticus (lawyer) and maid Culpuria. The book talks about their daily life and events took place in town of Maycomb City. The stories go smoothly as Scout and Jem spend their time playing in backyard, go to school, talk to their neighbours or create conspiracy theory about next door boy Arthur Radley aka Boo Radley. The real fun of the book comes when Atticus Finch takes the rape case of black boy Tom Robinson against white girl Mayella Ewell. The book highlights on the fact that during 1960’s when the book was written there was still racism in the town. How skin colour

Need strength, Need Patience!

Image
Biggest struggle we face in our life is to have patience. Either it’s passing the test or making food, everything every act of our need patience. Patience is nothing but waiting with hope that it will happen soon. Personally I find it difficult to have patience. I am too eager to wait for anything, I am judge too soon, I analyse too fast or I just want things done at the earliest. Because not having patience we often feel disappointed and start self-doubting. This feeling normally comes when we are facing trouble or difficult time. During those days it is important to believe, it is important to have that positive ray of hope that things will turn up fine. We constantly need to remind ourselves that something good is there for us, that bad phase will pass. It is rightly said that life is struggle, whether it is breathing air or just walking, each moment each time is struggle. But this struggle can be fun when we do it or see it as challenge. Challenge makes us take that ext

Lost track in chasing

Image
Suddenly when I started looking at my blog I realised it’s been ages since I lasted posted on this blog.. Wow time passes by so fast. We don’t realise when January came and February went. When was I written a blog on book I read or when I last finished reading a book? When was the last time when I read another blog? When was the last time when all I did in entire day was to read, listen and watch? Gone are those days when we had time for ourselves. Now we live for others or we forget to live. We are chasing our work targets or loved one, we are chasing dreams or lost opportunity, we are chasing perfection or weight scale. Our life has become a chasing game. Either we run to win or we just run to get noticed. Our daily routine has been so stagnant that we are running like a headless chicken. Wake up get ready for office, to go office and finish yesterdays pending work and soon we get another bunch of work for today. By the time we finish that we look at the clock and realise

So yet another blog on New Year. Quite late this time but atleast I Made it before the New year ends! This year was like a rollercoaster ride. There were happy and sad moments. As usual this year new adventure started with new job and new life. Never imagined that so much can happen in 1 year. 2012 started on bad note by losing one of my best friend. I still miss her on many occasions. May her soul rest in peace. This year was also year of no job satisfaction. Constant changes and peoples behaviour made it difficult to learn or grow. At the same time, this year was also full of trip. Short trip or long trip, every destination was amazing and full of memories. February month was filled with short trip to Alibag and again short trip to goa. Then in April, we cousins went to Mahabaleshwar. April was month of hometown, Rajasthan. Udaipur, City of Lakes welcomed us.
